At Somerville Rise Primary, we teach in five-week learning sprints which include careful curriculum development and planning against our yearly scope and sequence and Victorian Curriculum. Teachers work in teams to identify the skills and knowledge they want students to achieve by the end of each learning cycle, which by the end of the year will target all areas of the curriculum with multiple exposures. To communicate to parents what skills and knowledge each of our eight learning sprints will focus on, a Curriculum Overview will be sent home for each year level, highlighting the learning focus at the beginning of each sequence via Compass. Teachers also work together to moderate and assess student learning and the outcome of these assessments will be sent home to families in the form of two Semester Reports and six Learning Sprint Feedback. Both are designed to give timely and accurate information to parents/carers on their child’s progress throughout the year. Opportunities for parents/carers and students to discuss academic, social and emotional progress with teachers are also important and we have two formal opportunities for this to take place in the form of Parent Teacher Interviews.
Parents Communication at SRPS:

Classroom Newsletters are another aspect of our regular parent communication and will be written by the classroom teacher and sent home each term celebrating the learning that has taken place.
