Chaplaincy program

Trish Creely

My name is Trish Creely and it is a privilege to be your Chaplain at Somerville Rise Primary, and to serve the school community.  I look forward to getting to know all the students and their amazing families.

Chaplaincy is not a religious program, but a pastoral care initiative to help everyone in our school community. My approach is holistic, and my role as School Chaplain is to support the emotional, social and mental well-being of the children (and their families), and to help them find strategies to deal with problems and to move forward successfully with ongoing, caring support.

My role is to provide a listening ear in a safe and non-judgemental environment in which children and families can work through any issues or concerns they may have. Advocating for and championing your child to realise their potential is of high value to me. In order to achieve this, my approach is to use a lot of play-based techniques for working with children.

Part of my role at the school involves classroom visits, one-on-one pastoral care sessions, group or family sessions, helping out at breakfast club, facilitating social skills groups, and running recess and/or lunchtime clubs. I also attend camps, excursions or any other extra curricula activities when required.

I work in partnership with staff and parents to ensure that your child finds self-worth and develops a healthy perspective about themselves.

Please feel free to come and have a cuppa and a chat with me if you have any issues or concerns or just need a listening ear. A parent or staff member can make a referral to the Chaplaincy services and the parent/carer will be required to complete a consent form before sessions with your child can take place. Once I have the referral and signed consent forms, I will then be able to start seeing your child. Forms are available at the front office.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to come and see me -I’d love to meet you!

My working days are every Thursday and every second Friday. Just contact the office to make a time to see me.

Looking forward to connecting with you,

Trish
