Well, here we are—another school year done and dusted! Who knew that we’d blink in January and somehow find ourselves hurtling towards December, clutching coffee cups and wondering where all the hats in lost property came from?
Firstly, I want to thank you all for trusting us with your most precious treasures—your children. Every day, they come to us brimming with curiosity, energy (and sometimes glitter), ready to take on the world. They’ve laughed, they’ve learned, and, yes, they’ve probably told you some "interesting" versions of events from their day! Let’s just agree now that not every fire drill is an actual “exciting adventure,” and we’re absolutely *not* replacing the oval with a swimming pool (no matter what you’ve heard!).
To our incredible teachers and staff, you’ve done it again. Your dedication, creativity, and unwavering patience (even in the face of many a dress up) make this school the vibrant, welcoming place it is. You’re more than just educators; you’re magicians, life coaches, and, let’s be honest, expert negotiators when it comes to lunchtime trades of tiny teddies for Zooper Doopers. Thank you for bringing your best to the classroom every day.
To our students—what a year it’s been! You’ve conquered maths problems, created art masterpieces, and tackled the great mysteries of the school yard with bravery and determination. You’ve been kind to your friends, resilient in challenges, and… mostly remembered your hats. Keep being the bright sparks you are—the world needs your light.
And to you, our wonderful families, thank you for your partnership and support. Whether you’ve been helping with homework, cheering at sports days, or bravely stepping into the chaos of school fun runs, you’ve been a vital part of our community. We couldn’t do it without you. And if you’ve survived the intricacies of the school pick-up line this year, then congratulations—you’re basically ready to star in an action movie.
As we head into the holidays, I hope you find time to rest, recharge, and maybe even read a book that isn’t decodable. Reflect on the wonderful memories we’ve made together and dream big for 2024. At Somerville Rise, we’re already planning another incredible year of growth, learning, and (inevitably) glitter.
Thank you for making our school such a special place. Wishing you all a joyful, safe, and well-deserved holiday season. See you in the new year—sunhats on, ready to shine!
Keep living the dream,
Matt Jackson
